Sri Ramana Maharishi

A Sanctuary Dedicated to Ramana Maharishi

Sri Anantha Niketan is situated in the lap of of the revered Arunachala Mountain, the abode of Sri Ramana Maharshi, 8 km from Ramana Ashram in a village adjacent to Tiruvanamalai. It is a spiritual retreat place dedicated to the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharishi. This sacred space offers a unique blend of serenity and spiritual growth, inviting seekers to explore the depths of their consciousness. Our ashram, free from the confines of a single guru, encourages personal and collective transformation through meditation and yoga. Embrace the essence of simplicity and truth as taught by Ramana Maharishi, and find your path to enlightenment amidst the natural beauty of Tamil Nadu. Located in a picturesque rural scenery, far enough from the city noise and the main road buzz, Sri Anantha Niketan Ashram is a haven harbouring hundreds of birds, butterflies, squirrels and plants.

The sage of our times

A young lad was greatly affected on hearing the name Arunachala when his uncle mentioned it. Is it a place on this earth, he exclaimed!  Ramana had heard his calling.  At the age of 17, he embraced the fear of death and realized his Immortal Self. Very soon he left home and reached Arunachala, also known as Tiruvannamalai in Tamilnadu.

Extolled by sages of the lore, the love of Arunachala is rekindled by the sage of our times, Sri Ramana Maharshi. A living example of simplicity, profound awareness, and grace, Ramana beckons the hearts of those who look at him. His love of the mountain is an invitation to look deeper and realize the unbounded grace of Arunachala. To all his devotees the mountain is very precious bestowing supreme knowledge through stillness and silence.
Love of Ramana Maharshi brought Gopi and Chitra to Tiruvannamalai and in 1999, Sri AnanthaNiketan came into being.  Starting with a few simple thatched cottages, the Ashram has now grown into a full-fledged retreat centre.
